Snow Day

Friday was our first official snow day of the school year! YIPEE! We have gotten a TON of snow recently and here are a few pictures to show just how much we've gotten.

We currently have 35 inches of snow sitting on our roof.

Here's a picture of Dan's office right outside our backyard taken this weekend. Look at those huge snowflakes.

And here is a picture from a recent sledding adventure. Erik & Lindsi have an inner tube and I don't think we'll ever go back to an old school sled again. Inner tubing was so much fun!! As you can see the whole family got into the action. (Yes, that's Dan AND Dane on top of me! And, of course, Bailey had to be there too.)

Well, we'll probably have to use this old school sled again. How cute are Dane and Payton in this old sled that Erik refinished? Too bad it looks like they are having the worst time of their lives!

A first for Mommy

With all this snow, I thought I should know how to run the snowblower just in case I was in a situation where I had to do it because the official snowblower of the house (i.e. DAN) was not here.
Well, I had no idea how hard it actually is to use this thing!! It took me at least an hour to do the same job Dan can do in 15 minutes. Dan and Dane watched the whole thing through our front window. I'm just thankful that you can't hear what I am saying. I was pretty frustrated at that dumb berm that was left by the morning plowers. Needless to say, it's not an easy job blowing through a mound of ice and snow as you can tell from my face. Enjoy! ;)

Polar Bear Plunge

We celebrated the new year at the Auke Village Recreation area, watching a bunch of crazy people take a dip in the ocean. I've heard of people doing this, but I'd never seen it before. What a riot! Are they a bunch of brave people? Or just insane? When we left our house, the thermometer read -5F (yes, that's correct - NEGATIVE!!) The water was in the low 40s. Insane, indeed.

Ready, set, go!

Holy cow!

Yikes ! I'm outta' here ! ! !

This is how civilized people dressed that day.

Happy New Year everyone! May you get out there and do something crazy every now and again!

New Year's Eve 2008

We had a great New Year's Eve. Curtis and Wendy came over to share some of our slow cooker goose BBQ sandwiches (thanks Dan for being a good shot!) Wendy brought some yummy potatoes and an even yummier cherry cheesecake dessert. After all that good food we played Scrabble. I know, I know, not exactly a whooping New Years Eve, but given the fact little Phelps is giving me a run for my money it was a perfect way to spend the evening. Here are some cute pics from our night.

Wendy trying out the SNATCHER!

And Curtis trying it too....

And lastly, our game! Thanks Wendy & Curtis. We had a great time. :)
