SNOWZILLA!

I came home to this after parent/teacher conferences on Friday afternoon. You can imagine my surprise as Dan was watching both boys! I'm not exactly sure how he did it with a 7 month old on his chest and a toddler running around, but isn't it amazing? It made my entire winter! :)

Here you can see just how massive he is!

Here you can see the snow come pouring down, which it continued to do all Friday afternoon.

(And, sadly, now it's all gone!)

Home Depot Kids Workshop

A trip to Home Depot is a pretty big deal in our household! Dane loves to spend time trying out all the drills, wearing the headphones and seeing all that big equipment. Lucky for him, Daddy needs to go quite often. Today's trip was extra special when they stumbled upon the Kids Workshop. Dane geared up in a signature orange apron and got to hammer his little heart out making the cutest rain gauge.

And as I mentioned above, we can't get out of Home Depot without swinging by the drill section.

The boys had a great time and are already looking forward to the next Kids Workshop next month.

Educational activities gone awry..

As Dane is getting older, it's fun coming up with educational activities for us to do together. Unfortunately, he's not the best student. He is easily distracted and definitely has a mind of his own. Here are two activities we did this week where Dane and I had completely different ideas of how to approach the project.

#1 - I took a paper towel roll and wrote the numbers 0-9 on it and I wanted Dane to match numbered stickers to the number on the tube. Here's how the activity began.

And this is what it turned into....

If you look closely you can see the sticker under the number 8 by his mouth and you can also see the number 7 with no sticker because we lasted about 30 seconds with how I thought the activity should be done. ;)

Dane also thought it would be fun to play with the transparent backing from the stickers. This was wild entertainment for him and he ran around the dining room table for quite some time covering his eyes with the paper.

#2 - To practice fine motor skills, I thought it would be fun for Dane to use tweezers to move around puffed balls in an ice cube tray.

Here he is so engrossed...

although those pictures are very deceiving because this is what happened to the balls after about 2 mintues...

A little dose of reality!

This is my life these days....

I'd like to blame it on the fact that I've been sick and that Jaeger has still been waking up EVERY 2 hours, but honestly our lives seem to be more like this than not and I've come to accept that I'm not - wait for it - PERFECT. So far from it in fact. My new motto for 2010 is keeping it real! So, in the interest of keeping it real, I thought I'd share with you that mound of dishes above, and what Dane and I did to remedy the situation! We were at the kitchen sink for nearly an hour, but it was a huge hit with Dane. The first thing he wanted to do when he woke up the next morning was wash dishes. Lucky for him, there's always more. :)

*By the way, that disgustingly dirty muffin tin held the most scrumptious Apple Strudel Muffins. Give them a try - you won't be sorry. :)

Need a pick me up?

This will surely do the trick...

Is that not the sweetest sound?

We were all smiles while the Bakers were here!

What a blast it was having Auntie Mary & Uncle Charles here! Of course, Mommy and Daddy loved it, but Dane & Jaeger couldn't get enough of them. On Mary's last night, Dane was cuddling up with her reading books - what a sweet sight that was. (And I couldn't find my camera - argh!)
The highlights of the trip were a hike on the Flume, lunch at Pizzeria Roma, a girls' night out to the Wearable Arts Show, a breakfast cookout at Auke Rec, a hike to Nugget Falls at Mendenhall Glacier and lots of quality time just hanging out.

It went way too fast and we can't wait until the next time!
