Sunday Snapshot
I think we've actually recovered from our California trip and we can get back to some normalcy in our lives. ;) Which means we can get back to our weekly blog treats. (Don't worry though, I still have some more great photos from California - the Orange County Firefighter Station, Disney Downtown, and Dana Point just to name a few.)
Dane recently discovered LEGOS and his deep deep LOVE for these little men. We actually had to drive to the LEGO store in Downtown Disney to get these beloved men, but it was worth it as Dane just can't get enough of them. Notice that all of them have a helmet with goggles - a requirement with any person Dane now plays with. (I guess Dane just wants his little men to look just like him - helmet & goggles on 24/7.) He loves lowering the goggles and taking the helmet off and on over & over & over & over.....

Happy Birthday Chunk-A-Monkers!
It's hard to believe that you are already a year old sweet Jaeger Ray. It seems like just yesterday I was holding you in my arms for the first time. You are still just as happy as you were that first week home. All we have to do is look at you and you'll smile! And, boy, does that smile melt our hearts. I never tire looking at it, but I'm quite thankful that you've finally decided to only get up once a night to see me these days. (The every 2 hour thing was growing old!)
Here are some things you adore:
Dane, Bailey, gazing out and pounding on the window, baths, swimming in the pool, sitting outside on a sunny day and watching all the neighborhood kids whiz by on their bikes, anything your brother is playing with, door stoppers that go "boing", opening and shutting doors, the TV remote control, the phone, your new found freedom of standing, the drapes in Mommy & Daddy's room, listening to Mommy sing, watching Mommy dance, pounding your hands on the bathtub, all electrical cords & outlets, and of course....peek-a-boo
Your favorite foods are:
Blueberries, prunes, hot dogs, peaches, Pirate Booty, cheese & bananas (although you can't have those anymore, which is why we're having to add prunes to your daily diet! Thank goodness you like them. ;) )
Some of your least favorite things are:
Most vegetables (Dane you are definitely not!), getting out of the bath tub, having your diaper changed, your brother taking a toy away from you, and to my horror - reading (I sure hope this changes as I am a reading specialist!! You literally push the book away when I try to read to you.)
And here's what we adore about you:
Your Dairy-Queen smile, how happy you are about almost everything, watching you touch something you know you're not supposed to and turn to us while giving us that incredible smile of yours, your sweet giggle, your chubby hands wrapped around a bottle of milk, your adorable biscuits, and those Hubert cheeks perfect for a million kisses a day.
Happy Birthday to you Jaeger Ray. We love you!

This one is for the Dane diehard!
So as you may already know, Dane loves to play firefighter (Unk Tim would be proud!) Normally Daddy and I are his preferred playmates, but he absolutely LOVED playing with Uncle John. I've never seen Dane warm up to someone so quickly. He adored John. Perhaps it was because they have so much in common. They both seem to carry goggles wherever they go (yep, John had not one, but 2 pairs of goggles in his car!). They both love Legos and they both aspire to work ina firefighter & rescue capacity (John is hoping to start EMT school in the fall and Dane, of course, is already a firefighter rescuing people pretty much non-stop from sunup to sunset.) So, here are Dan and John playing firefighter.
If you actually watched that entire video you deserve a GOLD STAR! That was incredibly long. Who has time for that? ;) Did anyone catch who he "calls" on the phone to say what a good job they had done?

Auntie Kissy & Uncle Sal ROCK!
It was so wonderful seeing Auntie Kissy & Uncle Sal while we were in California. They both really dove in and got to some serious playing with Dane. Auntie Kissy is now an expert in all things firefighter and I'm pretty sure that it was Uncle Sal who taught Dane the art of wrestling! It was a blast seeing them so much while we were visiting and we're so sad that we don't live closer, but we have some great photos to look back on.

Oh yes, it's ladies night!
As much as I adore these sweet faces....

I was in dire need of a night away with my favorite ladies!!! So I got all gussied up...
and practically ran out to Mary's car before Grandma & Grandpa could change their minds! We found a great local Mexican restaurant and over indulged on chips & guacamole and of course, margaritas on the rocks with salt!! (Oh, I miss all the Mexican restaurants in California!)

We then landed at this dive bar...
Where we did just what the sign says....cocktails & dancing! (Thank you Michael Jackson - PYT!)
And we also dominated the pool table (the boys waiting for the table were not happy about it one bit, but we didn't really care!)

I had a blast and am still relishing in the fun we had.

A big huge thank you to these two wonderful people for spending the night with the kiddos so I could got get some much needed girly time!

Lunch with my ladies!
Mary hosted a wonderful lunch today with some of my old teaching buddies.
It was so great to catch up with old friends. These are the kind of friends that make you feel like no time has passed even though we may not find the time to talk as much as I'd like to these days.

I'm already looking forward to our next visit.
Maybe I can convince them all to travel to Alaska? :)
